A minimal viable protocol for an untrained adult:
- Two sessions per week. One power day, one strength day.
- Power day: 4–5 exercises, 3 sets of 4 explosive reps with 60–70% one-rep max.
- Strength day: standard hypertrophy or strength parameters, no velocity prescription required.
- Reassess stair-climb time and sit-to-stand repetitions quarterly. If those plateau or regress, the power stimulus is insufficient — increase load, not volume.
